Views of Hornsea

update 2026

Hornsea is situated on the shores of the broad sweep of Bridlington bay, on the east coast of Yorkshire. To the north around the Bay is Bridlington a lively sideside resort, to the south lays Withernsea an old resort town, close to the mouth the the famous River Humber and the City of Kingston-upon-Hull, both of which are famous for one of the worlds largest suspension bridges.

Hornsea is not only a popular resort for the rest of Yorkshire but for visiting tourist from Europe and around the world. Hornsea has been known and is still known as the Lake-Land by the Sea, Hornsea Mere is Yorkshires largest natural lake. The town is busy throughout the summer, but it's attractions, attract large numbers of visitors out of season too.

Hornsea is also famous for it's Pottery. The Pottery site, which is now known as "Hornsea Freeport" boasts a large collection of discount shops selling famous name brands. Unfortunately the pottery part has now closed down [May 2000]. The Town has a super museum showing life in by gone days. Close by at Skirlington, there is also one of Yorkshires biggest outdoor Sunday markets.

The sea may be cool but the welcome is always warm.
